Fitting your Star Water Filter® filtration system
Fitting your water filter is very simple, just follow our recommendations. Read the following instructions carefully so that you can carry them out correctly.
Unpacking your Star Water Filter® system
When unpacking, first check that you have all the components:
- The two tanks in the chosen colour.
- A lid in the chosen colour.
- A large non-slip cylindrical gasket that must be fitted to the base of the lower tank for stability.
- The standard stainless steel tap or the optional level tap. In this case, check that it is the right size for your system - there are two sizes. For each tap, check for the presence of the two silicone washers, the two stainless steel washers and the tightening nut.
- Two screw-on plugs to block any extra holes in the upper bowl that are not used by filters.
- The filter box should contain two Ultimate Star Filter® filters, each fitted with two silicone washers and a butterfly nut. There should also be a thick priming washer and a priming nipple.
- A small stainless steel pin (Starclip).
- If you have chosen an optional extension base, check that it is the right size for your system and that it is in the colour you have chosen.
If you have any problems, please call us or use the contact form.
Cleaning your equipment
Once the equipment has been checked, clean the tanks and tap with a mixture of warm water and household vinegar.
Assembling your Star Water Filter® system
Fitting the tap
Install your tap on the lower tank.
The principle is the same for both standard and level taps. Proceed as follows:
- Unscrew the tightening nut and remove the first stainless steel washer and the first silicone washer.
- Insert the tap into the hole at the bottom of the lower bowl, keeping one stainless steel washer and one silicone washer.
- From inside the lower bowl, insert a silicone washer, a stainless steel washer and hold the tap in place by inserting the stainless steel nut.
Tightening should be done by hand, tightening enough to ensure a good seal, but not too much. Tightening can be adjusted later if the tap leaks.
Filter assembly
WARNING : Before anything else, whether your filters are new or stored after a prolonged absence, you must prime your filters. Follow the instructions for starting up your filtration system before reading the rest of the assembly operations and installing your filters in the upper tank.
Install the two screw caps to plug the unused holes. In this case, install the plugs on two diagonally opposite holes, positioning a silicone washer on each side of the tank wall. Screw in by hand, without exerting too much force.
Position the top bowl horizontally, taking care to place it on a tea towel or cloth so that it doesn't get damaged or roll away. Unscrew the wing nut and remove one of the washers from each filter. Insert the threaded rod of each filter into each of the holes on the inside of the upper tank, leaving a silicone washer in place. Keeping the filter horizontal, insert the second silicone washer into the threaded rod from the outside of the tank and secure the filter by screwing on the wing nut by hand. Tighten the nut sufficiently to ensure a watertight seal, but do not overtighten, as this will not ensure a watertight seal and may damage the thread of the threaded rod.
During installation, be careful to keep the filters horizontal so as not to stress the threaded rod, which could break. If you are installing several filters and cannot hold them all, insert a towel or thick cloth in the upper bowl to hold them in place.
Proceed in the same way for each filter to be installed. Block the remaining two holes with the screw plugs supplied.
Once the filters have been fitted, straighten the tank while holding the filters so that there is no stress on the threaded rod.
Tank assembly
Place the lower tank with its tap and stability gasket on a flat surface or on its riser base if you have purchased one.
Clip the Star Clip onto the rim of the lower bowl to ensure air circulation between the two bowls.
Place the upper bowl on top of the lower bowl. Place the lid on the upper tank and your Star Water Filter® water filtration system is ready to use!
You can now proceed to fill your system by reading the instructions for using your Star Water Filter® water filtration system.
NOTE: Run the filter through three complete cycles before drinking the filtered water to remove any impurities and manufacturing residues from the filters. Use this water to water your plants, for example. You can drink the water after the fourth filtration.
